GameStop Chooses Halo Wars Over Killzone 2 for Launches

I have both the ps3 and the 360 but I'm only going to buy Halo Wars for the mythic maps for halo 3.

I just returned from my local GameStop and had a very interesting
conversation with the manager; apparently 95% of the Killzone 2 midnight
launches have been cancelled, surprisingly the late-night openings for Halo Wars
are still on. His guess at why this was happening was that there just weren't
enough pre-orders to justify most of the stores opening. I live in a city of
250,000 and there is only one GameStop store in the area still doing a midnight
launch for Killzone 2, apparently around 10 were originally planned.

This whole situation comes as a bit of a surprise considering all the talk
by Playstation 3 fans about the huge pre-order numbers that the upcoming Sony
exclusive is supposedly producing. I understand that times are tough financially
and GameStop corporate has to cut things that aren't making financial sense, is
Killzone 2's success one of those unneeded things? Considering GS is the largest
video game retailer in the country this could definitely have an impact on the
game's sales, especially when the same company is doing a midnight launch for
the Xbox 360 exclusive less than a week later. What's the story at your local
GameStop, is this something that is happening all over the country?
