"Four-Issue Miniseries Featuring All-New Adventures and Artwork Launches July 2007
NEW YORK – Following last summer's tremendously successful, bestselling Halo Graphic Novel, Bungie Studios, part of Microsoft Game Studios, has teamed up again with Marvel Comics to release the highly anticipated first monthly mini series Halo: Uprising. Based on one of the most popular franchises in the history of the video game industry, the four-issue Halo miniseries, featuring original storylines and artwork from the Eisner Award-winning team of super-scribe Brian Michael Bendis and artist extraordinaire Alex Maleev, will launch in July 2007.
"I think Halo is our generation's Star Wars. It's got a rich and untapped back story and world view that completely inspires me and millions of others," said Brian Bendis. "I loved the Halo Graphic Novel and this series follows in the same vein. Plus Alex and I get to fill the story in between Halo 2 and Halo 3."
Halo: Uprising is the second project to be developed through this partnership. Prior to the comic miniseries, Bungie created and Marvel released the ground-breaking and hugely successful Halo Graphic Novel, an anthology of original stories set in the Halo universe representing an unprecedented display of artwork and writing by top-notch creators.
"We are thrilled to be working with Bungie on another epic journey into the Halo universe. Alex and Brian's combined efforts in Halo: Uprising will excite fans and further develop the characters, storylines, and mythos that have made Halo a global entertainment phenomenon," said Ruwan Jayatilleke, Vice President of Development, Marvel Entertainment. With the creative superstar team of Bendis and Maleev on board, the epic miniseries will follow mankind's struggle against the alien threat of the Covenant. Picking up from the conclusion of blockbuster video game Halo 2, the miniseries will bridge the gap between Halo 2 and the upcoming release of the highly-anticipated Halo 3 video game, coming exclusively to Xbox 360 on September 25th, 2007.
Halo: Uprising reveals how the Master Chief, while onboard a hostile ship headed towards Earth, is battling against Covenant forces. Intertwined with Master Chief's interstellar one-man-war is the saga of a great American city's rebellion and downfall, two disparate lives' collision and shared fate, and the Covenant's hunt for an ancient relic of untold power and value." - Credit Halo3.com
